Pendeza Shelters successfully facilitated a comprehensive youth training on waste management and plastic upcycling, organized under the uDoti Initiative and hosted by the African Rural Wealth Creators Organization (ARWCO). The program focused on empowering youth with the skills to build safe, affordable, and eco-friendly homes using innovative materials such as soil-filled plastic bottles and repurposed car tires for roofing.
A total of 25 youth participants were trained in the process of converting plastic bottles into durable eco-bricks, a sustainable building solution. Additionally, five individuals received specialized training in construction techniques, further enhancing their skill sets. The initiative took place in Nongoma Town, Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal, strategically located between Durban and Ulundi, South Africa.
