Uphold Environmental Conservation and Improve the Well-being of Communities

We are known for supporting different communities to build strong and eco-friendly structures to guarantee safety for people. The houses are built using tested materials like eco bricks, iron bars, cement, sand, and aggregates. The walls are 23cm thicker and reinforced with iron bars and concrete. The house can take a duration of 400+ years on average. We look forward to supporting communities’ worldwide to build cost-effective residential houses.

Pendeza Shelters – Empowering Communities through Waste Management and Construction Skills in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement

Pendeza Shelters has successfully constructed over three key structures within the Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, located in Yumbe District, Northern Uganda. These initiatives have played a crucial role in raising awareness and providing practical training on waste management and construction skills to over 800 individuals, primarily women and youth.

Through targeted sensitization efforts, 400 women and youth have been trained on the process of collecting, sorting, and converting empty plastic bottles into eco-bricks. These eco-bricks serve as a sustainable building material, addressing both environmental concerns and the need for affordable construction solutions within the settlement. Among those trained, 50 individuals have gained advanced skills in eco-house construction, learning the innovative techniques required to build sustainable, low-cost homes using eco-bricks.

Waste management education and skills development are core areas of focus for Pendeza Shelters, and this project highlights our commitment to tackling environmental issues while simultaneously empowering local communities. The structures built in Bidibidi are designed not only to serve as physical buildings but also as centers of learning, where youth and women can acquire the skills necessary to support themselves and contribute to the long-term sustainability of their communities.

By equipping individuals with the knowledge and hands-on experience in construction and waste management, we aim to create opportunities for economic self-sufficiency and environmental stewardship. This project is a testament to our mission of fostering resilience and sustainability in refugee communities through skill development and innovative solutions.
We remain dedicated to expanding these efforts across different communities, ensuring that more individuals have access to life-changing training and sustainable livelihoods.
