We are known for supporting different communities to build strong and eco-friendly structures to guarantee safety for people. The houses are built using tested materials like eco bricks, iron bars, cement, sand, and aggregates. The walls are 23cm thicker and reinforced with iron bars and concrete. The house can take a duration of 400+ years on average. We look forward to supporting communities’ worldwide to build cost-effective residential houses.
In October 2024, Pendeza Shelters, in collaboration with the Congo Innovation Academy and Ekimeli School, launched an eco-housing project in the Kinshasa Kasangulu region. This initiative aimed to transform community attitudes towards plastic waste disposal and empower individuals to become environmental conservation ambassadors for a sustainable future.
The project focused on educating the community about the environmental risks of improper plastic disposal. Participants were of two groups: engineers and youth, each inspired to drive this project forward. A total of 4 engineers and 14 youth participants received comprehensive training in construction skills, covering theoretical, practical, and sensitization aspects.
In addition to the construction training, 56 youth were actively involved in collecting, sorting, and compacting plastic waste to create eco-bricks. Through these efforts, 20,000 plastic bottles were repurposed, and over 600 people were educated on plastic waste management in Kazungula.
As the project concluded, Pendeza Shelters provided guidance on organizing and storing eco-bricks for future use, ensuring materials were efficiently arranged and readily accessible for subsequent phases. This approach fostered a culture of environmental conservation throughout the project’s lifecycle. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Congo Innovation Academy-CINA and Ekimeli School for their leadership and commitment to organizing this initiative. Together, we contributed to a cleaner and more sustainable environment for the community.
By the end of the training, all participants gained practical skills, learning to measure walls, construct structures, and apply proper mortar mixing ratios for eco-bricks. The involvement of the engineers was invaluable, as it allowed us to integrate Congo construction standards and practices, inspiring youth who were eager to master each step of the process.
Pendeza Shelters believes that, through this program, a new generation of environmental ambassadors has been nurtured, committed to promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship in their communities.
