Who We Are

We’ve the plastic waste innovators

Pendeza Shelters was founded in the year 2021 by David Monday who is born and raised from Kilembe quarters Kasese district. Our home is located besides the main trench that runs uphill to queen Elizabeth national park. I will never forget the night of 13th June 2007 which is still lingering in my mind, the trench flooded and submerged our home, killing my beloved brother whom we found covered with bottles and polythene. It’s not only my family that faced the effect of these floods but also Nyakasanga and kanyangeya communities lost houses and house. In 2014 June, David joined social innovation Academy Social Innovation Academy a place where disadvantage youth unleash their potentials turning their pain into opportunities. His pain inspired him to wage a war on plastic waste. He innovated the technology of constructing houses using plastic bottles and worked with Upcycle Africa limited as head of construction and innovation for 7 years. He later founded Pendeza shelters in his home district Kasese to solve the challenge of poor plastic disposal with its devastating effects on communities.

Pendeza means “Beautiful”. Pendeza aims at a green world with transformed communities through creating a world where human live in harmony with nature by promoting environmentally responsible behavior and preserving biodiversity for future generations.
